Here at Share My Stories we want children to get excited about reading and writing. That has been our key aim since we first thought of the idea.
We want to provide a safe and engaging way for your children to be able to share their short stories with friends and family, and possibly with others around the world…
We love books, we love reading and we love to make up stories – and we want to inspire that passion in others.
This site is not only for those that are ‘great’ at reading and writing, on the contrary we want children to feel confident in their ideas and creativity, without being bound by judgements based on how good their spelling is. Clearly if they want to get the most ‘likes’ for their story, then a well written one will reap the biggest reward. But our hope is that we can simply provide a rewarding outlet for their creativity.. and if they can learn something in the process, well I think we would be very happy indeed!
It’s easy for your child to share their story with their friends and peers, and if you share the stories they have written with friends and family, they can post positive comments in support as well.
The site is free to use, although we do hope that if your child gets a degree of enjoyment from what they do you might see fit to support us with a small donation.
Children gain ‘coins’ for creating and sharing stories, when any of their monster designs are accepted, but also get coins for logging in regularly and commenting positively on friends and others stories. Coins can be spent on site content (collectable monster cards created by the children themselves).
We really hope that we can encourage as many young people to share their stories on our site. We will continue to work hard to add improvements over the coming months and we welcome any feedback or suggestions you might have to help us make a really positive impact.
We have a facebook page, especially for teachers and parents to use at www.facebook.co.uk/sharemystories , and a contact form is available on our site if you wish to get in contact.
Many thanks for giving us your time, and keep sharing stories!
